SOAR Meets at EKU Manchester Regional Campus

Committee members, working group chairs, and federal, state and local authorities met on Monday, Nov. 24. for an executive board meeting and retreat at the Eastern Kentucky University Manchester Regional Campus in efforts to keep moving the Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR) initiative forward.

EKU CARES Community Grant to Restore One Cemetery Leads to Establishment of an Organization to Restore Others

When a community-university partnership teamed up to research and restore the Shelby City African American Cemetery in Lincoln County in October 2013, its members never expected to complete most of the cleanup within a year. The 2.5-acre cemetery had been vandalized, trashed, and abandoned for 60 years, so the cleanup phase alone has involved over 1,500 volunteer hours to date.

Richmond Chamber honors Eastern Kentucky University at Annual Commerce Awards Banquet

Along with new local business, Estepp's Frienly Shell, Eastern Kentucky University also received one of the two Bernease Walters Beautification Awards given out that evening.
 

EKU Center for the Arts to Host 6th Congressional District Debate Oct. 27

U.S. Rep. Andy Barr (R-Ky.) and Democratic challenger Elisabeth Jensen will take the EKU Center for the Arts stage Monday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. as they debate for the Sixth Congressional District seat.
