EKU GOV Weekly Report: Week 7
The 10-day veto recess is officially underway. The General Assembly adjourned around 11:00 pm on Wednesday evening, concluding a 15-hour day, which at times seemed singularly focused on charter schools. The time commitment to passing both the charter school structure and the means of transferring funds to such schools meant that much work remains for the final two days of the session on Wednesday, March 29 and Thursday, March 30. Any legislation passed on those two days may not be overridden by the legislature in the event of a gubernatorial veto. Please see our Kentucky Legislative Report below for a full summary of events.
